We were here last year and wanted to repeat that experience, but the heat made the fish completely inactive. We got a few crucian carp in the morning, but we were after carp. The methods that worked before were failing today. When the sun shifted angle, we could see the snouts of some pretty decent fish about 10 cm below the surface. Clearly, with that scorching sun, they just didn't have enough oxygen at the bottom. We tried raising the bait, casting near where we could see them and slowly dragging toward where they were gathered, but those carp couldn't care less about our efforts. One of those frustrating moments when you can see the fish but it won't even look your way 🥲 The only bonus was the sturgeons. The owner stocked them sometime last fall, I think. I'm not too familiar with this species, but they also seemed inactive probably from the heat, and it was really a shame. The owner was actually relocating them, so we carried them to the neighboring pond. This place is more of a recreation base, so it gets crowded on weekends with lots of people — some swimming and jumping off a platform in one part of the pond. So if you want a more peaceful vibe, better to come on a weekday. Anyone know if there's a way to get fish interested when they're in this state? Or is it a lost cause?
