Description
Managed to catch this beauty on a pop-popper between the greedy amur bream. Used a 40cm leader, but you could go way smaller since I was casting right up to the reeds by the bank. Saw some nice crucian carp cruising around, looked like at least half a kilo each, but they wouldn't bite—either didn't fancy the maggots or were just showing off. Honestly, for as long as I can remember, this lake's been home to some really beautiful big crucian carp, and it's only them and the amur bream here. That bream hits every bait you throw at it and won't let the carp get a look in.
