The name of the water
Description
Decided to spend an hour in the evening testing out a new Fish Up Tanta 1.3 with a size 12 single hook on a familiar lake. Fished from shore with classic twitching technique - short jerks with pauses. Suddenly felt a snag... or so it seemed. Turned out I'd accidentally hooked a crucian carp (or young common carp) around 700-1200g by the back or fin. Pure accident, but the feeling was real! Then came the classic fight - the fish was thrashing, I was letting line out on the drag, slowly tiring it out. Seemed like everything was under control, the carp had "given up" and was calmly heading to shore. But I was fishing from steps, which made maneuvering pretty tough. That's when the classic happened! Seeing the shore, the fish suddenly woke up and made a powerful desperate run. The size 12 single hook couldn't handle that "farewell jerk" - and my accidental catch was gone. Takeaways: • Even accidental snags give you the rush of a real fight • Steps aren't the best position for playing a fish • The last few meters are always tricky • Perch at this lake is still ignoring all my lures (tested tons of options over the last few weeks) Though word has it small watermelons are being caught here :)
