"A bad result is still a result" Thinking back on yesterday's fishing and reporting about it, one Italian word comes to mind - "Fiasko", which translates to - defeat, failure, flop. Of course it's fishing, and fishing can go either way, but on this day (9.03.2024) everything went sideways right from the start. The day was sunny, but cool. At 10.00 I arrived at the water body where I'd opened the season a few days before. And when I got out of the car and walked up to the shore - I was shocked... the water was covered in ice... Without hesitation, I decided to head to another lake, which is both deeper and practically doesn't freeze in winter, but that lake was also covered in an ice sheet... Two more attempts with trips to other lakes showed that there was ice everywhere. Then I headed to the Dnipro embankment, but I had with me a light setup bordering on ultralight up to 13g... Approaching the water... casting my maximum weight of 13g... I couldn't reach the bottom - insane current... And what joy I felt when I realized that nearby there was a gas station, and in it - a cafe) I spent two hours there, savoring good coffee and thinking about my next moves... But when I decided to return to the lake again, it was already around 14.00, and the ice was as if it had never been there... I had an hour and a half left for fishing, so I decided not to waste time and check my "developed" spots with a silicone bait, which always goes in the water first when I need to get a result. At one of these spots, I managed to convince a passive perch with a very slow and drawn-out retrieve, but that was it... The fish didn't give me another bite, and time flew by quickly and imperceptibly. As you can see, you can prepare carefully for fishing, know everything and even a little more😉, have a large arsenal of different "dishes" for fish... but the weather will do its thing. Still, thanks to that too - met with nature, chatted, saw fish, saw other anglers, saw bullfinches, and even tasted coffee with treats🤪.
