And then came this beautiful pike, around a kilo, on regular maggot right at the edge of the mouth🤯 Honestly blown away that a 600 hrn picker can handle fish like this - even with that pike thrashing around, the hair rig held solid up to 1.5kg🤨ChubBottom fishing244😍Lybid River· Kyiv city26.08.2026, 17:24Just got around to posting this report, so covering two days at once. First day I was testing UL gear on the Lybid and had solid success on spinners and crankbaits, then we even caught some chub by hand in the collector. Second day I got an Optimus up to 1 gram and decided to test it on bigger fish. Got decent bites on trout-colored silicone most of the day, some nice ide taking them pretty regularly. Then we switched to spinners to test out the Optimus on nano vibros — gotta say the setup didn't handle that task too well. Bites were slow except my buddy landed a chub, just a small one. For some reason I managed to find a whole pile of tires underwater and yeah, exactly as expected I ended up taking a dip in the Lybid River after that. The chub were responding great, really powerful bites. Then we fished with a spinner in the cooling channel and managed to catch a trophy asp but unfortunately didn't get a photo. My buddy only landed one perch but I got 4. After that we headed to Sonyachne where I caught a bream, then we went after pike perch. That's when I spotted those thick-headed carp again and figured my buddy had a shot at it since he had a heavier rod and thicker line. I borrowed it from him and cast right into its mouth. He was fighting it for about a minute, then the knot snapped, but man did he get some awesome emotions out of it.
