😍Desna River· Kyiv Region05.09.2026, 17:55Hey Viskaart community! 🎣 Finally made it out fishing on Friday. Been wanting to go for a while, so I started planning the route Thursday and packed up my gear and loaded the car that evening. Hit the road at 5 AM. At first I was thinking about hitting the bypass canal past Lebedevka, but when I got there I was pretty surprised — there's basically no water, everything's dried up and overgrown. Looks like someone shut off the water somewhere. Around 6 AM I decided not to waste time and headed to the Desna, to a completely new spot for me — literally just following my nose. While I was getting ready I retied my leader like eight times because I'm pretty rusty at this 😄 But finally got going. Started working the area with a mandula and sinkers in the 18–24 gram range, though even those were getting swept around pretty good by the current. Was expecting pike or zander at first, but noticed some active asp hitting. Then I spotted a real boil — you could clearly see the predator smashing baitfish. Cast right into it, started reeling fast — and got absolutely hammered! A huge asp! 🔥 Won't lie, this felt like the fish of a thousand casts. The adrenaline was absolutely pumping, and after fighting that beast I couldn't even come down for like 30 minutes 😄 Spinning setup: Azura Savada XP 9–39 g rod, Daiwa Fuego 4000 reel, and Azura X-Game PE 0.8 line. Kept fishing after that. Had another pike that nearly came off right at the bank. And near the end I actually snapped the tip of the Savada at the second guide from the joint. So that's how it went — drove out to one spot but ended up finding a completely different one and landed a real trophy. Goes to show, every cloud has a silver lining!
