Hey everyone, quick intro first. My old man and I have a tradition during winter season where we do a "winter fishing marathon" — basically we go fishing every single day in a row, heading out before dawn and getting back home around dusk to warm up and rest a bit, then we're back out again the next night, and this goes on for 3-5 days straight. So this winter season our marathon kicked off on 19.01.26 and ran for 4 days until 22.01.26. Here's how it broke down: • Day 1 - Pressure at 760, temps from -12 at night to -8 during the day, overcast, moderate north wind. Got a couple false triggers on the tip-ups, there were plenty of anglers on the water but only two managed to catch pike around 1-2kg. We found a sweet spot pretty quick where we hit a great roach bite (just needed to chum the holes). Ended up with 105 roach for the day — roughly 4.3kg total (between the two of us, so we stayed under the daily limit). • Day 2 - Pressure 753, temps from -16 at night to -4 during the day, sunny, barely any wind. Decided to go back to the same spot but set up the tip-ups a bit differently. Only one false trigger, the guys next to us also had nothing but false alarms, and only one angler on the opposite end of the water managed to land a pike up to 2kg. The roach weren't biting nearly as well at those spots — only got 35 fish and caught one small perch. • Day 3 - Pressure 746, temps from -17 at night to -4 during the day, sunny, moderate wind. This time we headed to the other side of the water, got plenty of tip-up triggers, but couldn't convert them — either the live bait came back shredded or just gone completely. Barely touched the roach today even though they were biting decent, we spent most of our time on the tip-ups, ended up with just 20 roach and another small perch. • Day 4 - Pressure 740, temps from -12 at night to -3 during the day, overcast, strong wind. Headed back to where we were on days 1 and 2, and again just a couple false triggers on the tip-ups — other anglers around the whole water didn't get any action at all. But we got lucky again and hit another solid roach bite (same deal, from the chummed holes), wound up with 125 fish — roughly 4.7kg for both of us (still within limits, no worries). So that's how our annual winter fishing marathon went down, with the final tally (between us): Pike — 0 fish, 0kg. Perch — 2 fish. Roach — 285 fish, roughly 10kg. P.S.
