Happy New Year 2026 everyone!🎄🎄🎄 Finally the stars aligned for me today, got that long-awaited day off. They say however you welcome the new year is how you'll spend it, and for me this was opening day of ice fishing season. We were catching perch on jigs and pike on live bait (tip-ups). Had plenty of false alarms on the tip-ups which showed the pike were active, though the perch situation was a bit tougher - had to search pretty hard for them, mostly getting isolated bites, but closer to evening after drilling another hole we finally hit a school of small perch. On the way back while collecting the tip-ups, one went off and I lost the treble hook with the leader and sinker because it snagged on some snags. I hope that in 2026 the war ends with our victory and peace comes. I also wish everyone to catch the fish of their dreams
