Description
Was on the water at dawn. Everything looked promising—fresh air, perfect calm. Headed out with my spinning rod and high hopes for some good action. Started working the promising spots right away, switching up lures and trying different retrieves. Nothing but silence. The water felt dead. The only thing that worked was the quiet in my head. At some point, one little goby—tiny, random, like it felt sorry for me—hit my cicada lure. Kept casting until 10 AM, but deep down I already knew it wasn't my day. One goby, zero mood. Bottom line: one goby on a cicada and plenty of questions for myself and the fish. Rough day, but still glad I got out there.
