Decided to hit up the pay pond today… Didn't even get my tripod set up when my buddy's already pulling in a trophy pike (pic 2), unfortunately it didn't put up much of a fight which bummed him out a bit. Still, this beauty weighed 4.3 kg, a personal record for him. After such a great start you'd think it'd keep going, but nope. The bite just died and only the occasional small pike was hitting after that. At some point, while working a small crawfish about 2 inches, I feel it snag up. Thought it was a snag, but this "snag" started moving and ripped out almost all my line! Turns out it was a 15 kg grass carp! Spent 1.5 hours hauling that beast out of the water) Towards noon we decided to walk around the lake, but still nothing was biting. Halfway through our route I cast out some acid bait which got the pike a bit more interested and landed me around 6 fish, up to a kilo each. All in all two solid trophies and a bunch of small pike, but I'm happy with how it went. Good luck out there!
