Tarashany

After a short break during the off-season, I'm back to doing what I love. New season — new expectations, new challenges, and of course, new emotions. The comeback started with the "Season Opening" competition held April 4-6 at the sport pond in the village of Tarashany. Finally Carp — that's how you'd describe not just the emotions from the first fish of the season, but also the name of our team, which once again competed in the tournament. We started preparing for the tournament in advance, doing two practice sessions three weeks before the start. Both — with no positive results. The fish weren't biting, and the water gave us almost no clues. Despite this, we didn't slow down and came to the competition with hope. The start was pretty tense — fish activity remained at a minimum, as usual. Our zone, located closer to the dam, had absolutely nothing, while other areas of the lake were catching fish here and there. We only saw the first sign of activity early in the morning at the end of the first day, but unfortunately, the first bite ended in a disappointing loss right at the shore. Another attempt by the water to break us — but not this time. After a completely dead day and realizing why the neighboring sector had more activity in the morning, we decided to change our feeding tactics. And during the next evening feeding session, we heard that same desired "peak" we'd been waiting for for a day and a half. After that, everything was like a blur. Weighing it, crazy adrenaline, nerves when a real giant appears before the net… And there it is — in the mat. On the scale — 21,900. The moment it was all for. This fish became not only our first of the season, but also earned us the tournament's Big Fish award and a new team record. We kept working the same way — and got two more bites, one of which we landed. It all happened near the end of the competition, when every move mattered. Despite harsh weather conditions — fog, heat, rain, wind, and even snow — we managed to take 4th place and, as mentioned, Big Fish of the tournament. A result that definitely didn't disappoint, considering the level of competition and the fish being inactive.
