Syrovatka River

Rolled up around 8 in the morning. There's this decent pike spot right under the bridge, so we figured we'd start casting there. I loaded up with a 1.5" chatterbait, my buddy grabbed a 2" jig. But the wind pretty quick told us this wasn't happening, and like they say, "time to move on boys" 😁 Tied on a pike rig, got our lures set and headed out. Started with a 3" Jib in "motor oil" color from M5 Craft and landed my first pike on it. Switched to Keitech after but got nothing. Threw on a 3" shad next and that brought two more fish. At the end, went back to the Jib in acid color and got pike number four. My buddy landed three pike and two perch. Average pike weight around 250g. Little guys, but still fun 😄 There's definitely bigger pike out there, unfortunately they're pretty inactive right now. Same thing we saw on our last two trips this year at the paid pond where the bigger fish are. Never did get the net open though 🥲 Worked the lures pretty minimal — drag along the bottom, lift up, couple slow reels, pause. First time at this water and we're stoked. Got some good notes and techniques to come back with next time dialed in. Everything was weighed for the personal record and released to grow))
