Perch Days

A day for pike-perch. A legend we made up😄 Once upon a time, in a picturesque village on the shore of a large lake, they decided to start a new holiday – Pike-perch Day. The idea was born among anglers who went out on the lake every day with their boats hoping to catch the biggest and tastiest pike-perch. "Pike-perch is the pride of our lake!" said grandfather Pantelei, the oldest fisherman in the village. "Why shouldn't we celebrate it properly?" So the preparation for the holiday began long before the appointed day. Anglers competed to see who could catch the biggest pike-perch, the wives looked for the best fish recipes, and the young people prepared dances and songs. When Pike-perch Day arrived, the village came alive. On the central square, they set up a large cauldron where they cooked pike-perch soup, inviting everyone to taste it. Next to it, a market opened where you could buy smoked pike-perch, fish pies, fish-shaped souvenirs and even small fishing rods for kids. But the most attention was drawn to the pike-perch exhibition, which the anglers brought from the morning fishing. The biggest pike-perch that day weighed a whole 10 kilograms! They solemnly photographed it and released it back into the lake to preserve the tradition. The holiday ended with songs by the bonfire and stories about giant pike-perch that, according to the anglers, still live in the depths of the lake. Since then, Pike-perch Day has become the village's favorite tradition, bringing together friends, family and even tourists from distant lands. This story reminds us how important it is to appreciate nature, our traditions and to enjoy simple things.
