Teterev River

These were my first zander ever, we picked a spot that wasn't too crowded near the city so we wouldn't have far to drive and could have some space to ourselves. When we got there we saw all the other guys in the ravines sitting with floats and catching roach, but we forgot maggots so we just went after predators instead, and it paid off. We moved around a few times and ended up on a spot with a sandy bottom and a drop-off about 7 meters from shore, and on the 3rd or 4th cast the first zander bit. I was absolutely stoked, it's an incredible fish. It took a 2g Fatty Engros Baits in motor oil on a 3g rig (all the other fish we caught that day took the same lure). This bait's bailed me out more than once in spring. The fish was decent sized, maybe 300-400 grams, and of course it swam away to grow bigger. We tried a couple more spots and moved further out where it was much deeper, with a 5g drop-off and the bottom falling away about 10 seconds at 5g give or take, and caught 3 more zander and 3 perch there. The 5g weight and 2g lure didn't spook them. All the fish came before lunch, by 1 PM nothing was biting anymore.
