Went out to check on the local bay, see what's what, took a look.. bunch of guys grilling kebabs, all with booze, and the main thing is to cast the rod in the water, it's lying around somewhere, the float's already in the bushes, but gotta cast anyway.. water level jumped way up, they raised it 1.5 m at night, maybe more, last year at peak there was even less water than that, and by 11:00 they'd already let all that water out, not much fish-wise, saw guys packing perch the size of a pinky finger in bags, one guy had like 5 in his bag, another had 2, and I found a nice spot where there was some dace cruising, got bites on khitom 1.1, switched to a berkley maggot and caught one beauty, then I was experimenting because there was decent dace standing further out and with weights 0.13 0.2 I couldn't cast far enough, and with 0.3 weight I couldn't do a proper cast over the top, plus there was all kinds of natural debris floating around, so it was tough
