Baraboiskoye Reservoir

Left at five in the morning, grabbed some bait at the two pillars, and we're at the water. Weather was perfect, beautiful spot (though I guess all fishing spots are beautiful), but the fish just weren't biting. The worms and maggots were getting taken by something we couldn't figure out, no bites at all. Corn wasn't working either, and forget about all those modern rigs like boilies, pop-ups, pellets—the fish wanted nothing to do with them. Lots of anglers around but nobody stuck around long, by two o'clock it was pretty empty where we were. In the end, me and my dad each got a carp, maybe 300 grams each. My buddy walked the whole reservoir looking for pike but came back empty-handed. Our neighbors didn't even get that much. There was this guy on the left in a wetsuit, waded in deep, throwing soft plastics, caught a small pike and fell in the water twice 😁. The sad thing is we've been coming to this reservoir since like 2015 and it gets worse every year. They're netting fish, and what used to be an amazing spot for catching tons of carp—which they were taking without any limit—is pretty much done now. Free fishing is great and all, but like reality shows, it doesn't last long. P/S: On the right side there's still drunk locals trying to tell people the reservoir is now a paid spot, going on about how much fish there used to be here (which they themselves netted out). That's a wrap, we won't be back here for a while.
