Strypa River

Short but interesting evening session, managed to catch 3 protected fish species and 1 fish that's now banned. This fishing trip turned out to be spontaneous – arrived at the village today and realized I had an hour and a half, maybe two hours of daylight left. Decided to dedicate that time to chub hunting. Not necessarily to catch a bunch of them, just to land at least one chub in that short window. But the river had other plans. I went to this one spot where I was planning to fish the whole time looking for chub, and wouldn't you know it – first cast, first fish was a protected chub on a 1.2-inch lure with a 1-gram sinker. Then about 10-15 minutes later I got another bite after moving 4 meters downstream, and it was another chub on the same lure. After that pretty solid start there was a bit of a quiet spell, maybe 20-30 minutes. But after that break I got another solid bite, and I really thought it was finally the chub I was after. But when I fought it up from the bottom, turned out to be a small but scrappy pike – managed to land it and snap a few photos. But that wasn't the end of it – another bite after the pike, and this time it was another chub. This last chub wrapped up the session though, since it was already getting pretty dark out and fishing was getting uncomfortable. So today I had an interesting spontaneous evening session where I landed 3 protected fish and 1 pike from a single spot over the course of an hour and a half. P.s. all the fish were photographed and released back to grow and spawn.
