Stripa River

One of the toughest fishing sessions this year. I started out planning to catch perch at one of two ponds. After showing up at the first one and spending two hours fishing with constant bait changes, I got zilch. I figured I wouldn't crack the code with the fish there today. So I decided to try the other pond where there's also perch and started looking around the new water. But unfortunately, I didn't get a single bite there either, same as the first spot. After 4 hours of searching for perch, I decided to give it one more hour and try for chub on micro jigs down at the river. When I got to my spot, I right away threw out a proven winter bait – a 1.1 inch tandem on a 1 gram weight in brown. And after 15-20 minutes of fishing, what I was hoping for finally happened. A chub bite, which made me really happy since it was the first bite of the whole session. After a pretty decent fight for such a passive fish, I managed to haul it onto the bank for some photos, then sent it back to its home. But unfortunately, that chub ended the whole trip – after that there were no more productive bites, just one more false strike. Still, if you ask me, even though the fishing was tough, it turned out successful because I managed to get at least one fish by the end.
