Strypa River

A short but interesting evening session where I managed to land 3 red-listed fish and 1 currently prohibited species. This fishing trip turned out to be completely spontaneous – arriving at the village today, I realized I still had about an hour and a half of daylight left. I decided to dedicate that time to chub hunting. Well, not so much hunting them down, but at least to catch one chub in a very short window. But the river had other plans, because at the only spot where I planned to spend the entire session looking for chub, the first fish on my very first cast was a red-listed barbel on a 1.2-inch lure with a 1-gram weight. However, after 10-15 minutes there was another bite after I'd moved about 4 meters downstream, and it was another barbel on the same lure. After such a decent start, there was a bit of a lull for about 20-30 minutes. But after this break there was another good bite, and on this one I thought I'd finally hooked a chub, but after a brief fight, lifting the fish from the bottom, I saw it was a small but very feisty pike, which I successfully landed and got some photos of. But that's not all, because after this pike there was another bite, and it was another barbel that gave me a nice fight. But this barbel turned out to be the last fish of the day, because it was already getting dark outside and fishing was no longer comfortable. So today I had an interesting spontaneous evening session where I managed to land 3 red-listed fish and 1 pike from a single spot where I spent about an hour and a half. P.s. All fish were returned to their home water after photos to grow and spawn.
