Southern Bug

Headed out fishing at the rapids of the Southern Bug, and in the first hour of wading I got several strong bites, most likely chub, but later I managed to land a nice chub around 350 grams, and then came a strike so hard it nearly ripped the rod out of my hands, a tough fight and a 1.6kg chub in my hands 😍 And then there was a strange bite and fight where I couldn't figure out at first what kind of fish it even was? Instead of jerks, long steady pulls and the fish pressing down to the bottom, but when I got it closer I saw it was a pitch-black catfish that bent open the treble hook on my lure and got away 🫢
