We went out to catch some crucian carp on a feeder and pike on a spinner, but ended up catching the biggest fish of my life. The crucian carp didn't want to bite at all, same with the pike. Around midnight a small catfish bit, which we released back. 2 a.m., nothing's biting, it's cold, so I decided to cast the spinner to warm up. During the retrieve the rod suddenly bent into an arc, the drag started singing, and the line was flying off the spool like crazy. I waited about 15 minutes for it to calm down, then started slowly bringing it in. At first we thought it was a hooked carp or a silver carp, but as we got it closer we saw this huge catfish dude that had grabbed the soft bait with his front fin and wouldn't let go. After another 5-7 minutes of struggling we managed to haul this beast onto the shore by hand without a net. This beauty weighed 10.7 kg – the biggest fish I've ever caught. Really stoked, though it was pretty nerve-wracking not to lose such a monster 😁
